McKelvie String Studio is a group of acoustic string players comprised of Sarah and Sean McKelvie; along with Julie and Erik Scull. All are professionally trained musicians holding advanced degrees in Music Performance.
The McKelvie String Studio has a versatile selection of repertoire. We are classically trained musicians who also have a love of jazz standards, Celtic and Bluegrass fiddle tunes, and folk inspired songs from the 1960's and forward. We can easily perform classical pieces and wedding songs at a wedding service and then stay for "cocktail hour" or dinner and play some of your all time favorites.
The string quartet is a uniquely designed group of two violins, or violin and viola, doublebass, and acoustic guitar. This combination of instruments provides us with many options for arranging an array of music styles.
In addition, Anna McNulty, an accomplished harpist studying at the Indiana University School of Music Preparatory division, is available to combine with part of the quartet, for a truly beautiful sound for any wedding ceremony.
We are able to bring amplification for larger gatherings or outdoor events. There is no fee for amplification, however, if you would like us to provide you with a microphone for your service, there will be a small fee for this service.
Rates are specific to the type of event, number of musicians involved, and the distance of travel. Please call or email for details.
A 50% deposit is required at time of booking to "save the date". The remainder is due at the time of the event.
Corporations, hotels, and restaurants will be given a special rate for multiple bookings. Please contact Sarah McKelvie for details.
Sarah McKelvie is available to work with the event coordinator to ensure the most appropriate and cherished pieces are chosen for the special event. In general, this can be arranged via email and over the phone.
